Who is Bound To B - BTB?

Bjørn Tore Bystrøm (f: 1966 på Rjukan) har drevet med musikk i forskjellige former og stilarter siden han trådte sine barnsben inn i korpsbevegelsen og var innom alle instrumenter som var tilgjengelig der opp gjennom årene og dirigerte også etter hvert flere korps. Ved siden av korps, var det bandmusikk som ble den store hovedhobbyen og de fleste instrumenter som benyttes i bandsammenheng fikk også stifte bekjentskap med BTB. 

BTB var heldig som ble inkludert av de eldre lokale musikerne og forbildene og lærte masse gjennom å få musisere tidvis med disse. 

BTB var en aktiv person på hjemstedet innenfor kultur- og musikkfeltet og i voksen alder lokket korbevegelsen han seg inn i sine musikalske kamre og der også overtok han etter en stund dirigentrollen i mange år.  

BTB var en av initiativtakerne til å starte bl.a. Rallar'n Rythm 'n Blues Band som etter hvert skiftet navn til Rjukan Boller & Blues hvor han var vokalist og gitarist. BTB ble etter hvert med to fra RB&B og starte Iris Coffee Band (oppkalt etter bandets vokalist Benthe Iris Dahle) og spilte der først keyboard, perkusjon og saksofon for så å gå over til trommer. 

BTB var også fra begynnelsen av 90-tallet og fram til 50-årskonserten i 2012 (som skulle vise seg å bli den aller siste konserten) med i The Zodiacs, først som vokalist og keyboardist og etter hvert ble keyboardet byttet ut med gitar. 

The Zodiacs ga ut 8 singelplater på 60-tallet men det ble aldri et fullt album den gang. 

BTB reiste sammen med bandet til Danmark og Jailhouse studio, hvor de spilte inn sitt første fulle album "Rush On" som kom ut i 2002.  For BTB var det veldig stort å få være med å spille inn en hel plate med sine gamle helter. 

Etter han i 2004 flyttet fra Rjukan til Bergen og etter hvert Askøy, fikk musikkutøvelsen en liten nedtoning og det var hovedsakelig veiledning og motivering av unge talenter over det ganske land gjennom organisasjonen MOT, som ble en viktig syssel for BTB. 

i 2016 ønsket BTB å bli litt mer aktiv på musikkfritidsfronten og søkte da etter noen å spille med i bergensregionen. Dette utviklet seg til å bli bandkonstellasjonen Bukkene Bluese som hadde én opptreden og året etter oppstart gikk over til å bli Bound To Blues. BTB ble et anerkjent band med røtter i bluesgenren i Bergensområdet. Dette bandet holdt på fram til sin siste konsert i februar 2023. 

Det var i tiden med Bukkene Bluese og Bound To Blues, at Bystrøm for alvor begynte å sysle med tanker om jobbe litt mer aktivt med å skrive egen musikk utenom små prosjekter i hjemmestudioet. Vel heiet på av de andre bandmedlemmene, dukket det opp flere og flere egne låter. Repertoaret av egne låter (og som gjerne ikke kan beskrives som tradisjonelle blueslåter) har nå blitt såpass stort, at BTB ønsker å satse mer på egne låter og utvikle disse. 

Våren 2023 gikk BTB under navnet BYSTRØM i Polyfon studio i Bergen sammen med to dyktige lokale askøymusikere for å begynne prosessen med å lydfeste mange av BTB sine låter profesjonelt. Etter at bandet gikk i studio er navnet endret til Bound To B.

Bjørn Tore Bystrøm (b: 1966 in Rjukan) has been involved in music in various forms and styles since he entered the band movement as a child and used all the instruments that were available there over the years and conducted several bands. Next to the choir, it was band music that became the big main hobby and most of the instruments used in band contexts also got to know BTB.

BTB was lucky to be included by the older local musicians and role models and learned a lot through occasionally playing with them.

BTB was an active person in his hometown within the cultural and musical fields and in adulthood the choir movement lured him into his musical chambers and there too he took over the role of conductor for many years after a while.

BTB was one of the initiators of starting i.a. Rallar'n Rythm 'n Blues Band which eventually changed its name to Rjukan Boller & Blues where he was vocalist and guitarist. BTB eventually joined two from RB&B and started the Iris Coffee Band (named after the band's vocalist Benthe Iris Dahle) and there first played keyboards, percussion and saxophone and then switched to drums.

BTB was also from the beginning of the 90s until the 50th anniversary concert in 2012 (which would turn out to be the very last concert) with The Zodiacs, first as a vocalist and keyboard player and eventually the keyboard was replaced by a guitar.

The Zodiacs released 8 singles in the 60's but there was never a full album back then.

BTB traveled with the band to Denmark and Jailhouse studio, where they recorded their first full album "Rush On" which came out in 2002. For BTB it was very big to be able to record a whole record with their old heroes.

After he moved from Rjukan to Bergen and eventually Askøy in 2004, the practice of music took a slight toll and it was mainly guidance and motivation of young talents across the country through the organization MOT, which became an important activity for BTB.

in 2016, BTB wanted to become a little more active on the music leisure front and then looked for someone to play with in the Bergen region. This developed into the band constellation Bukkene Bluese, which had one performance and the year after its inception changed to Bound To Blues. BTB became a recognized band with roots in the blues genre in the Bergen area. This band lasted until their last concert in February 2023.

It was during the time with Bukkene Bluese and Bound To Blues that Bystrøm began to seriously think about working a little more actively with writing his own music outside of small projects in the home studio. Well cheered on by the other band members, more and more own songs appeared. The repertoire of own songs (and which often cannot be described as traditional blues songs) has now become so large that BTB wants to invest more in own songs and develop them.

In the spring of 2023, BTB under the name BYSTRØM went to Polyfon studio in Bergen together with two talented local Askøy musicians to begin the process of professionally recording many of BTB's songs. After the band went into the studio, the name was changed to Bound To B.
